The light output of a typical medium pressure mercury lamp operating at 300 watts per linear inch is shown here. The majority of inks and coating are cured by exposure and special applications call for other wave lengths such as 385 nm and 417 nm.
This additional radiation can be created by the addition of iron and gallium respectively.
GALLIUM IODIDE LAMP
Gallium Iodide has the effect of introducing special lines at 403 nm and 417 nm of the electromagenetic spectrum. This is particularly useful with Diazo type exposure processes.
IRON IODIDE LAMP
Iron Iodide is a broad emitter and enhances the spectral output of the lamp in the 380 nm region. This can be used with good effect on photopolymer and daylight film ecposure systems.
